Nestlé and Platinum Equity have closed a deal to launch Peranel, a joint venture owned 50% that will group the premium water and beverage business of Nestlé. The operation values this perimeter at 4.9 billion euros and will mean for the Swiss group a cash inflow close to 3 billion euros at the time of closing, expected in the first half of 2027.
The new company will integrate more than 30 brands and references marketed in 120 countries, including "S.Pellegrino," "Source Perrier," and "Acqua Panna." Peranel will have its headquarters in Paris and will be led by Muriel Lienau, current CEO of the premium water and beverage business of Nestlé.
With this structure, Peranel is born as an independent firm dedicated exclusively to the premium water and beverage segment, which will grant it greater freedom to allocate resources to its brands and capture new expansion opportunities.
The operation is conditioned to the consultation processes with the representation of the workers, as well as to the obtaining of the pertinent regulatory authorizations, so the horizon of the first half of 2027 is maintained for its completion.
"Thanks to a greater focus, it will be well prepared to drive its long-term growth ambitions, strengthening this unique portfolio of international and local brands, with continuous investments in innovation, 'premiumization,' operational excellence, and sustainability," commented Philipp Navratil, CEO of Nestlé.
"Combined with the world-class product development, execution, and marketing capabilities of Nestlé and Peranel, our joint venture creates a powerful alliance and a very strong team," noted Louis Samson, co-chairman of Platinum Equity.
"Peranel represents an extraordinary collection of iconic brands that consumers know and trust around the world," added Igor Chacartegui, general director of Platinum Equity, who expressed his intention to continue collaborating with Nestlé, Muriel Lienau, and her team to expand the presence of Peranel and support its sustained organic growth.
