The Ibex 35 has started the session this Monday, the first of August, with an advance of 0.68%, which has allowed the Madrid selective to surpass the psychological barrier of 19,900 points and place itself at 19,917.7 units.

Investors remain attentive to the tensions in the Middle East, which have caused a drop of more than 6% in oil prices, leaving the barrel near 83 dollars.

In this scenario, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced the start of a new round of talks with Iran on the afternoon of this Monday, following his statements about the alleged suspension of an attack against the Islamic Republic after, according to him, the parties had reached an agreement for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Against this backdrop, the price of Brent crude, the reference for Europe, was at 83.3 dollars after falling 5.3%, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude, the reference in the United States, was at 79.49 dollars, with a correction of 6.12%.

Minutes after the bell at the Madrid Stock Exchange, the largest increases within the Ibex 35 corresponded to IAG, with an increase of 2.97%, and to ACS, which advanced 2.09%.

On the side of losses, the sharpest declines at the start of the day were for Repsol (-1.97%), Cellnex (-0.78%) and Merlin Properties (-0.33%).

At the same time, the main European stock markets recorded mixed behavior in the early stages of the day, with advances in Frankfurt (0.91%), Paris (0.86%) and Milan (0.78%), against the slight decline of London (0.05%).

In the debt market, the yield of the Spanish 10-year bond rose to 3.589%.

In the foreign exchange market, the euro gained ground against the greenback, trading in the markets at 1.1524 dollars.
