Tipsa has launched a new Hub in Alicante, built on a total area of 4,256 m2, which triples its sorting capacity and will allow it to assume exponential growth for at least the next 5 years, as the company itself has stated.
This state-of-the-art installation replaces the company’s previous center in the La Florida industrial estate and represents a decisive step within Tipsa’s expansion and renewal plan for its logistics network in the Comunitat Valenciana.
The new logistics complex, located at Calle de la Libra, 112, in the Polígono Industrial Las Atalayas, was inaugurated after completion of the works, at an event attended by delegates from the main Tipsa agencies in the area.
The plot totals 4,256 m2, with 2,059 m2 of built-up area and an operational warehouse of 1,737 m2. The sorting system has been set up in different work areas: an overcounting area and an automatic conveyor that speeds up unloading from vehicles and moves the packages onto a roller ramp for manual sorting.
The infrastructure includes 6 exterior trailer docks, 3 interior, and 2 exterior bays for vehicle outfitting, which allows operations to be carried out simultaneously with up to 11 heavy vehicles and 28 vans.
The maximum sorting capacity stands at 700 parcels per hour and, during peak periods, the platform can increase it by 40%. Compared with the previous installation, the new Hub has increased sorting capacity by practically 300%, a qualitative and quantitative leap that places the company in an optimal position to absorb exponential growth for at least the next 5 years, according to the same sources.
"The opening of this new Hub in Alicante responds to our commitment to continuous improvement of our infrastructures, in this case in the Comunitat Valenciana. Tripling sorting capacity allows us to meet the growth of activity in the province and strengthen the quality of service for our customers", Tipsa CEO Marisa Camacho said.
The new Alicante Hub serves all TIPSA delegations in the province and maintains daily connections with the Hub in Cheste (Valencia), where the regional transfer is carried out; with Bailén, from where shipments destined for Andalucía are managed; with Albacete, for exclusive cargo for Madrid; and with Madrid, from where the rest of the cargo is distributed nationwide.
In the area of sustainability, the company is in the process of obtaining BREEAM certification for sustainable construction, which its platforms in Madrid and Zaragoza already have. This standard analyzes factors such as energy efficiency, water consumption, waste management, the materials used, transport, and the health and well-being of the building’s users.
Likewise, the Hub incorporates a container with controlled temperature for the transportation of goods that require specific conditions and healthcare products, in line with the equipment of the rest of the company’s platforms.
