The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, has congratulated the PP candidate for the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, on his party's electoral triumph, which he has defined as an "unappealable" victory that allows him to achieve a "historic" third term "to continue driving Andalusia as a land of progress and talent".
Juanma Moreno's PP has once again clearly won the Andalusian regional elections held this May 17, although it falls two seats short of the absolute majority of 55 deputies after losing five parliamentarians. This slight decrease prevents him from avoiding "the mess" of having to negotiate an agreement with Vox, following the path of communities such as Extremadura, Aragon, and Castilla y León. Vox only adds one deputy compared to the 2022 elections, but fulfills its purpose of being decisive in Moreno's investiture.
In parallel, the PSOE signs its worst historical result in Andalusia with María Jesús Montero at the helm, falling to 28 seats in what had traditionally been its main source of votes nationally.
Adelante Andalucía rises to become the fourth force in the Andalusian Parliament with eight deputies and 9.62% of the votes, after having only had two representatives in the last four years. In the 2022 elections, it obtained 4.58% of support at the polls.
For its part, the coalition Por Andalucía, which includes IU and Podemos along with other left-wing formations, manages to maintain its five parliamentarians, with 6.31% support, compared to the 7.70% of votes it gathered in the last legislature.
