The councillor for Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, has assured that the Govern is working so that the anti-squatting office "becomes a reality as soon as possible".
The regional official expressed himself in these terms this Tuesday during the control session to the Govern in the plenary, following a question formulated by the Vox deputy Patricia de las Heras.
Mateo explained that this new service will provide attention and offer accompaniment to people affected by the illegal occupation of homes, and he underscored its objective of "preventing, combating and reducing this phenomenon".
According to what he detailed, the Conselleria has already worked on the regulation of the structure of the office and has put the administrative procedures into motion for the creation of the necessary positions. In this sense, the Consell de Govern has approved the modification of the list of job positions to enable four staff positions.
The Vox deputy recalled that "the anti-squatting office, agreed with Vox, already has coverage and budget. It only needs to raise the blinds and lawyers, because every day without an office the owner waits and the delinquent rubs his hands".
In other matters, Mateo defended his work at the head of housing policy and maintained that the shock plan driven from the beginning of the legislature "is producing results", although he admitted that these do not occur "overnight".
For her part, the PSIB deputy Mercedes Garrido lashed out against the performance of the regional Executive and assured that "we are collecting the results of your non-management". In addition, she cast doubt on whether the new housing plan announced by the president of the Govern, Marga Prohens, during the Debate on General Policy can have real effects to ease the housing crisis.
"How do they think that a new plan will solve the problem if the previous one has been a failure?" asked the socialist, who summed up the "balance of the Govern's management" by pointing out that rent has gone from 800 to 1,500 euros per month.
