The Supreme National Security Council of Iran reiterated this Saturday that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz will only occur when it verifies the total cessation of military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq, along with the lifting of the sanctions weighing on the Iranian economy and the payment of compensations for the damages resulting from the war.
"Until the United States corrects its behavior, the Strait of Hormuz will not open," warned in a statement the secretary and main spokesperson of the Council, Mohammad Baqir Zolqadr.
This body, the highest security instance of the Iranian Executive presided over by Masud Pezeshkian and in which also participate the president of the Parliament and main Iranian negotiator, Mohamed Baqer Qalifab, and the head of the Judiciary, Golamhosein Mohseni Ejei, also demands that Washington immediately lift the perimeter closure it maintains over the Strait of Hormuz.
"These are the demands of the Iranian people, who have tirelessly manifested in squares and streets for 160 days. The Supreme National Security Council will never yield, neither in war nor in negotiations," concludes the note, which is disseminated after a message in similar terms made public by the Revolutionary Guard.
"When the U.S. side accepts the conditions of the Islamic Republic of Iran and abandons its interventionist approach, the conditions for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz will undoubtedly be met," concluded the spokesperson of the Revolutionary Guard, Hosein Mohabi, according to the Tasnim news agency.
In the same vein, Mohabi has urged Washington not to interfere in the conversations that Iran is holding not only with Oman but also regarding the possibility of holding new meetings with other actors in the region. Days ago, the Iranian spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, already reported a principle of understanding with Oman to jointly manage a new maritime route through the strait.
