At least four American military personnel have been injured in an "incident" recorded aboard the aircraft carrier 'USS Dwight D. Eisenhower', when a plane was attempting to land on the deck and two aviators were forced to eject from the aircraft, according to the United States Navy.

In a statement released on its social media, the Navy explained that the incident occurred around 6:18 AM (local time), off the coast of the state of Virginia, at which point the two pilots activated the ejection system, triggering a search and rescue operation in the area.

"Both aviators returned safely to the ship and are being evaluated by medical personnel," the military institution indicated, adding that "four crew members were injured during the incident and are receiving medical attention," including one who had to be evacuated to Norfolk for treatment.
