The Iranian Army has announced that it has carried out a drone attack on the night of this Thursday against the Ahmed Al Jaber airbase in Kuwait, where U.S. military forces are deployed, as retaliation for the latest series of bombings carried out by U.S. troops against the Islamic Republic.
In its statement, the military institution has indicated that the operation targeted the hangar of combat aircraft, as well as various satellite communication systems and equipment warehouses belonging to the U.S. Army located in that Kuwaiti facility, according to the note released by the Tasnim news agency, close to the Revolutionary Guard.
"The Ahmed Al Jaber base in Kuwait has played a fundamental role in U.S. air and surveillance operations and, beyond its operational function, is considered one of the nerve centers of air support for the U.S. terrorist army," the statement reads, which also claims that "the crimes, sanctions, and threats make Iran more united and cohesive in its defense."
The Iranian military leadership has presented these attacks as a "response" to the "recent aggressions of the U.S. terrorist army" against the country and, in particular, to the "barbaric attack carried out against a home on Qeshm Island," in the Strait of Hormuz, which the day before left at least three dead and two injured.
Hours earlier, the president of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, had spoken about that bombing through a message on social media, in which he stated that "the Americans have become accustomed to compensating for the defeats they suffer on the battlefield by spilling the blood of innocents." He then warned that "they will pay for it."
In the same vein, Qalibaf maintained that "the United States stains its hands with a new crime every day. The terrorist attack against civilian homes on Qeshm Island is a continuation of the crimes committed in Minab and Larestán."
