The Iraqi Executive has rejected this Thursday having given the green light to military operations within its borders, after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that the bombings carried out this week alongside Saudi Arabia against Iraqi soil were coordinated with Baghdad.
The spokesman for the Government of Iraq, Haider al Abudi, indicated in an interview broadcast by the Al Iraqiya News network and reported by the state agency INA that the cabinet of Prime Minister, Ali al Zaidi, has not granted its "consent" for the execution of attacks in the country.
"The Government received the news of the attack at 2:50 in the morning, and the commander in chief (...) immediately convened a meeting with the commanders and security officials to outline the necessary plans to address its repercussions," he stated.
Abudi also explained that the bombings, carried out by Riyadh and Washington against various Iraqi provinces, "coincided with the return of the President of the Council of Ministers from Ankara, after concluding an official visit to Turkey."
In this regard, he emphasized that "the Government will not be part of the war, nor has it been part of any side in the regional conflict."
His words come after the American president defended that the attacks, directed against positions of the pro-Iranian militias Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq and which left at least 20 dead, were coordinated with the authorities in Baghdad.
