The Israeli Armed Forces have decreed the immediate departure of the population of Ziqoq al Mafdaq, in the city of Tyre, in southern Lebanon, as a preliminary step to new bombings against alleged positions of the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah, despite the ceasefire that, in theory, remains in force.
"In view of Hezbollah's breach of the ceasefire agreement, the IDF --Israel Defense Forces-- are forced to act against it using force," explained the Israeli military spokesman in Arabic, Avichai Adrai.
The area affected by the evacuation order is located in the vicinity of this Lebanese coastal city, south of the mouth of the Litani River. "Anyone near Hezbollah members, their facilities, or their weapons is putting their life in danger," Adrai warned.
Five people have lost their lives and several more have been injured in an Israeli attack on a vehicle in Tyre. Among the deceased are Alí Muhamad Dahini and his son Rabih Dahini, residents of the town of Tura.
In another Israeli bombing in the Al Jarayeb area, one person has died and several have been injured, according to the official Lebanese news agency, NNA, as well.
This Monday, the Lebanese Red Cross announced that four health workers suffered moderate injuries from broken glass due to an explosion in front of their main headquarters in Tyre. The four have been evacuated to Yabal Amel Hospital for treatment, according to information disseminated by the NNA.
The message disseminated by the Israeli authorities calls on residents of the designated area to move towards the territories north of the Zahrani River, considered the last objective of the Israeli advance to consolidate a "security zone" in southern Lebanon.
