The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al Thani, held a telephone conversation this Monday with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, in which he stressed that all parties involved in the ceasefire talks in the Middle East must "respond positively to mediation efforts."
According to the Qatari news agency QNA, "during the conversation, they addressed the mediation efforts between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The call dealt with the coordination of efforts to support mediation aimed at de-escalating tensions, so as to contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region."
In the same vein, QNA indicated that the Qatari leader insisted on the need for "all parties to respond positively to ongoing mediation efforts," with the aim of "paving the way to address the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue," and moving towards a "lasting agreement that avoids further escalation."
On the other hand, the Iranian Armed Forces announced this Monday the conclusion of their attacks against Israel after launching missiles in retaliation for the bombing carried out on Sunday by the Israeli Army on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, although they warned that they will adopt "much harsher and more crushing measures" if Israel "continues its aggressions," also in Lebanese territory.
This move came after the President of the United States, Donald Trump, demanded an "immediate" cessation of offensives from Israel and Iran. The White House tenant is trying to preserve the ceasefire agreed with Tehran two months ago, while talks continue to stop the war, in a context marked by the escalation of the conflict and the exchange of bombings between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
