The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania summoned this Wednesday the chargé d'affaires of Russia in Vilnius, Alexander Elkin, to formally express the Government's complaint about the "sabotage" acts recorded in Estonia and its "continuous attacks" against the population and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
With this diplomatic gesture, Lithuania supports the accusations made by Estonia against Russia for its alleged involvement in the fire that affected a building of the defense company Milrem Robotics on August 15, in a context where several European States have been warning of a rise in incidents of this type linked to Moscow.
In this line, the Baltic country has emphasized that, along with its partners, it will respond to any action by Russia that violates International Law, whether it be sabotage, cyber offensives, or any other form of aggression.
"These actions against one of the allies are considered a threat to the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic community," Foreign Affairs warned in a statement, which also emphasizes that these attempts to break the cohesion of NATO around Ukraine "are doomed to failure."
At the same time, the Lithuanian authorities have conveyed to the representative of Moscow in Vilnius their rejection of the "continuous and systematic" attacks against Ukraine, mentioning some of the most recent episodes, such as the drone that this week hit the headquarters of the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv.
"The attack left two dead, dozens injured, and destroyed a historic 19th-century building.(...) At least nine people died and more than 80, including three children, were injured across the country," Lithuania has denounced, demanding that Russia cease its attacks on civilian targets and population.
