The authorities of Pakistan have communicated this Saturday that at least eleven people have lost their lives and around thirty have been injured after a suicide attack against a police checkpoint in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, located in the northwest of the country.
The attack has been registered in the locality of Dera Ismail Khan, as confirmed by the spokesperson for the provincial emergency services, Bilal Faizi, who has indicated that the injured have been evacuated to a nearby hospital, several of them in critical condition.
Among the fatalities are eight men, two women, and one minor, while search and rescue teams continue working in the area. The affected police checkpoint is located near Mughal Kot, on the road that connects Dera Ismail Khan with Quetta, according to information published by the newspaper "Dawn".
At the same time, the police have deployed specialized units in explosive deactivation to carry out the relevant investigations and try to determine the exact origin of the explosion.
