The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, has responded to the latest statements of his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, outright rejecting the new accusations about the supposed danger that the Caribbean island would represent for "the greatest nuclear power on the planet," words he has described as a "ridiculous and clumsy lie."
In a message disseminated on his social networks, Rodríguez has replied to Rubio after a recent interview granted to Fox News, in which the American official again placed Cuba among the main threats to the national security of the United States. "The Secretary of State insists on the ridiculous and clumsy lie, which neither he nor his corrupt colleagues believe, that Cuba could constitute a threat against the greatest nuclear power on the planet," the head of Cuban diplomacy has pointed out.
Rodríguez has emphasized that "Cuba is not a threat, the blockade is," and has denounced that Rubio's persistent fixation on the island responds, in his opinion, to a "desperate attempt to justify the current genocide of the Cuban people through collective punishment."
In that same vein, he has warned that it is a "fantastical pretext for a military aggression, which would provoke a bloodbath of Cuban and American citizens," referring to the consequences that, according to him, a military escalation based on those accusations would have.
For his part, Rubio, relying on reports from American Intelligence, has maintained that Cuba has become a "superpower" of international espionage, to the point of having managed to infiltrate for decades into key institutions of the United States.
