The President of the United States, Donald Trump, expressed this Saturday his opposition to the most recent offer from Iran for the reopening of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, calling the proposal "unacceptable."
"I reject their proposal. They want to reach an agreement in which they immediately reopen the strait because they are losing, a lot," Trump stated in response to questions from the press before departing from the White House to a college football league game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The president emphasized that Tehran seeks an understanding, but that the conditions proposed are not acceptable for Washington. "They want to reach an agreement and I think that is good. I also want an agreement, but that agreement would be unacceptable," the U.S. president added.
The Iranian proposal, presented on Friday by the Government of Iran, was based on the memorandum of understanding from Islamabad and contemplated the end of hostilities on all fronts of the conflict, with explicit mention of the situation in Lebanon.
