The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has recounted that in a recent conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he warned him that he could be left "alone against Iran very soon" if he is not "careful."

"You should be very careful about what you do because you could end up alone against Iran and very soon," Trump stated, according to the US leader himself in an interview with journalist Barak Ravid, of Israel's Channel 12.

Trump has indicated that he expressly asked Netanyahu to avoid responding to the Iranian missile attack launched on Sunday night, although Israel ultimately chose to retaliate and only communicated its decision to Washington at the last moment. "They were already on their way to Iran. I managed to reduce the scope of the attack," Trump indicated, detailing how events unfolded.

The US leader has added that five countries in the Persian Gulf region involved in the negotiation process approached the White House to request his mediation in order to curb a greater escalation in the conflict.

According to Trump's account, Iran sent a message that "it would not carry out further attacks against Israel" and asked the United States to pressure Israel to cease its actions. "I called 'Bibi' (Netanyahu) and made him stop," the President stated.

Trump has also reiterated that he sees an advantageous agreement with Iran as imminent and that, in his opinion, the authorities in Tehran are willing to sign it.
