The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, communicated this Friday the application of sanctions against thirteen merchant ships, of which eight sail under the Russian flag, eleven Russian citizens, and about thirty companies for their participation in the "illegal" export of Ukrainian grain.

In this way, he confirmed the entry into force of the measures approved by the National Security Council of Ukraine, which also affect three ships with a Panamanian flag, one from Belize, and another registered in Saint Kitts and Nevis.

"All of them are involved in the illegal export of Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Sanctions have also been imposed on the owners and captains of these ships and on the companies involved in the export of our grain," Zelensky added in a statement.

The head of the Ukrainian state also indicated that he will provide Ukraine's partner countries with "all the information (...) so that they synchronize the measures and adjust them to their respective jurisdictions."
