The top-of-the-list PP candidate for Congress for Barcelona and mayor of Badalona (Barcelona), Xavier García Albiol, has emphasized that the initiative of the PP deputy and number two for Madrid to Congress, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, to remove the 'pinganillo' of simultaneous translation into Spanish in the Lower House "is not from the party, it is what she would do".
In an interview with "Crónica Global" published this Sunday and picked up by Europa Press, the popular leader stressed that "the PP is not about banning, and less so Catalan."
Albiol has insisted that "This is not something that worries Catalans or the rest of Spain; it is a proposal that I would not have pushed forward because I believed it was not necessary or urgent, but if it is already there, it does not bother anyone," making clear that he does not share the priority of this measure, although he acknowledges that its implementation does not generate conflicts.
