The spokesperson for housing of Sumar in Congress, Alberto Ibáñez, has shown this Thursday his recognition to the Minister of Housing, Isabel Rodríguez, for closing an agreement with the autonomous communities governed by the PP within the framework of the State Housing Plan endowed with 7,000 million euros to reinforce public housing.
According to what was agreed, the PP's regional executives have given their support to the State Housing Plan 2026-2030, which foresees allocating resources to the construction of new public housing, as well as to the rehabilitation of properties and to rent subsidies. The program also incorporates the principle of indefinite protection for public housing, so that properties purchased or promoted with these funds will maintain their protected status permanently.
In this context, Ibáñez has disseminated a message on the social network X in which he congratulates the minister, although he introduces critical nuances: "It is fair to recognize, despite insufficient funding, the agreement of Minister Isabel Rodríguez with the Autonomous Communities for the state housing plan".
Support for the Supreme Court ruling on rent registration
At the same time, the Compromís deputy has referred to the recent resolution of the Supreme Court that annuls the Single Registry of short-term rentals promoted by the Ministry of Housing, considering that the State did not have the competence to implement it.
The sectoral spokesperson for Sumar has recalled that he already warned that the competence in this matter is regional, although he has pointed out that he does not share the way in which the communities governed by the PP are exercising it. Therefore, he maintains that the most appropriate way to regulate these rentals is to unblock as soon as possible the specific law that is being processed in Congress and which remains paralyzed by the rejection of the PP, Vox, and Junts to the text.
In that line, Ibáñez has reiterated on X that "The best response is to accelerate the regulation of seasonal and room rentals in Congress, and to municipalize the declaration of stressed areas".
