The PSOE spokesperson in Congress, Patxi López, has announced that his group refuses to submit to a vote in the Plenary Session this Thursday the request addressed to President Pedro Sánchez to call general elections, considering it a display of "political cowardice," since, in his opinion, what would be appropriate for the PP is to register a motion of no confidence.

Ahead of the vote scheduled for this Thursday, the PP and Junts have submitted separate amendments with the aim of incorporating a new point into the Popular Group's initiative that urges the President of the Government to dissolve the Cortes and immediately call general elections.

However, Patxi López argues that this power does not lie with Congress, but is an exclusive prerogative of the head of the Executive and, therefore, should not be submitted to a decision by the Plenary Session. In his view, if the opposition intends to remove the Government, the PP would have to opt for the path of a motion of no confidence.
