The PP and Vox have asked the Central Electoral Board (JEC) that the same information be provided to them as that which the state company Correos sends every day to the Ministry of the Interior about the evolution of applications for postal voting.
In a public statement, the PP does not call into question that Interior should receive that daily report, but it demands that those data be transferred “at the same time, with the same level of detail and under the same conditions” to the JEC and to all the political forces competing in the general elections of next 29 November.
For the conservatives, this is “especially relevant information” in the middle of the election period, since it records the daily evolution of requests for postal voting, the figures for delivery of the documentation to voters and the ballots sent to the Polling Stations, in addition to the comparison with previous elections.
The party recalls that a ministerial order from 2025 established that these data would be sent only to the Ministry of the Interior, something which, in its view, grants “advantage” and “privileged information” to the socialists over the rest of the lists. They also emphasize that the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska, also appears as a candidate for the PSOE for the Congress in the constituency of Madrid.
“In an election, there cannot be candidacies with more information than others—argue those from the PP. Electoral information cannot be the exclusive property of the Government: same rules, same data and same guarantees for all.”
Vox demands full transparency and distribution on the web
At the same time, Vox MEP Jorge Buxadé has circulated a message on the social network X calling on the JEC to ensure that the information that Correos sends to the Government “is made available to all the parties that are running and to all Spaniards.”
In addition, he argues that the Electoral Board should order the postal operator to publish those data on its website. “Transparency and objectivity,” he added.
