The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has called this Saturday for coordinated action among the different administrations to tackle the fires that are ravaging several areas of Spain, with special incidence in Madrid, Castilla y León, and Castilla-La Mancha. From there, he has appealed to be "responsible" and "work together".
"We are going to refresh the political atmosphere," he conveyed, in statements to the media in Santiago de Compostela, where he is participating in the institutional acts of the Day of Galicia.
Feijóo has detailed that in the last few hours he has held conversations with the three most affected regional presidents —Madrid, Castilla y León, and Castilla-La Mancha— as well as with various mayors of the Community of Madrid. "We are all working, and I hope that everyone is in their place and living up to their responsibilities," he stated.
In a context marked by the political spat between the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, and the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the popular leader has emphasized that he would avoid talking about "fights". "I believe there are statements that speak for themselves," he argued, referring to Puente's words about the PP communities and the UME.
The former president of the Xunta de Galicia, a community that knows well the recurring impact of wildfires, has reiterated that "the important thing is to work together, attend to the people, and preserve material goods as much as possible".
"But above all and beyond everything, preserve the lives of people," he concluded, before asking that all citizens who may be affected by the fires "follow the instructions of the citizens".
