The general secretary of Vox and the party’s top figure in Catalonia, Ignacio Garriga, has defined the aid decree for the victims of the Urda (Toledo) rail accident as “crumbs,” a decree approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers.

In statements made this same Tuesday, Garriga said that the Transport minister, Óscar Puente, “should first of all ask for forgiveness, say that he is going home, and that he will make himself available to the courts.”

He also pointed out that any explanation offered by Puente or the PSOE “is insulting the whole of the Spanish people and trampling on the memory of the victims of Urda or Adamuz,” and he insisted on the need to have rail infrastructure with the level of maintenance that, in his view, corresponds to them.

Resignation of Eduard Rivas

Regarding the resignation of the chief of staff to the President of the Generalitat, Eduard Rivas, Garriga said that the investigation “was known about for more than six months and they have concealed it.”

Rivas’s departure comes after it became known months ago that he was being investigated for alleged irregularities while he served as mayor of Esparreguera (Barcelona).

“It doesn’t surprise us; unfortunately, we’re used to seeing how the Socialist Party splashes around in corruption,” Garriga added, who believes that this situation has direct consequences and causes the collapse of public services.
