The president of ERC, Oriol Junqueras, has called for more public support so that his party emerges strengthened after the general elections of 29N and can lead the transformations that, in his view, today’s Catalonia needs in areas such as housing, financing, and public services: “If it doesn’t do it ERC, no one will,” he said.
Junqueras spoke this Sunday at an ERC pre-campaign event held in Badalona (Barcelona), accompanied by the candidate for Congress for Barcelona, Gabriel Rufián, as well as by the numbers 2, 3, and 6 on the list, Mireia Ingla, Jordi Albert, and Alejandra Sandoval, and by ERC’s spokesperson in Badalona and candidate for mayor, Àlex Montornés. According to party figures, around 2,000 people attended the meeting.
During his speech, the Republican leader defended that ERC is contesting the elections with the intention of winning and that it does not intend to do so, he said, through a “word salad” that mixes acronyms from different parties, but rather by appealing directly to the whole of the citizenry: “We come to talk to people. This is the coalition we want to build,” he stressed.
