The Government plans to register this Friday in Congress the requests for appearances, on its own initiative and in an extraordinary period, of the ministers Fernando Grande-Marlaska, José Manuel Albares, Margarita Robles, and Félix Bolaños, in order to provide explanations about the migratory crisis in Ceuta, in which more than 72,000 irregular migrants from Morocco accessed the city.
Sources from the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Cortes have indicated that the four ministers will attend the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Defense, and National Security committees, respectively, at the end of August.
In detail, the Executive will propose to the president of Congress that the Minister of Defense appear on August 25; the Minister of the Presidency, Justice, and Relations with the Cortes, on the 27th; and the heads of Interior and Foreign Affairs, on the 28th, each before their corresponding committee.
According to the Government, the ministers will inform "about the management within the framework of their competencies regarding the events that occurred in the Autonomous City of Ceuta on July 30 and following days."
The registration of these requests before the Lower House occurs after the PP demanded these appearances on Thursday both in the Senate and in Congress. The Executive has specified that, "to avoid duplicities and taking into account the importance and scope of the issue," the ministers will attend this same month of August "in the constitutionally prevailing Chamber, the Congress of Deputies."
