Pedro Sánchez and the Partido Popular have taken part in a new exchange of messages on social media over music during the election campaign. The president of the Government has shared a song by Extremoduro along with the phrase «there will always be music», in a post with which he asserts the presence of this resource at political events.

The PP’s response has come through the same social network. Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s party has cited the message from the head of the Executive and has replied with a reference to another track by the Extremadura band: «It’s also good the one by “So payaso”, Pedro” from Extremoduro».

Music, a new reason for confrontation between PSOE and PP

The exchange occurs after the use of songs in the campaign has been the subject of criticism by the Partido Popular during the last few weeks. Sánchez’s publication brings this issue back into the political debate, this time with Extremoduro as a shared musical reference for both messages.

The Prime Minister has used the expression «there will always be music» to accompany the song, while the PP has resorted to the title of «So payaso» to reply to him in an ironic tone.

The clash reflects how social networks have also become a space to extend differences between political parties, even through cultural and musical references, amid electoral activity ahead of 29N.
