The PP has demanded that the PSOE confirm as soon as possible the presence of the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, in the 'face-off' with the leader of the conservatives, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, scheduled on Mediaset, and that it also "lift the ban" on Atresmedia in order to hold a four-way debate with the candidate of Frente Amplio, Ada Colau, and the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, before the elections of November 29.
PP sources explain that the party’s secretary general, Miguel Tellado, has sent a letter to both audiovisual corporations in which he confirms Núñez Feijóo’s participation both in the Mediaset 'face-off' of November 16 and in the four-way debate organized by Atresmedia on the 26th.
From the national leadership of the PP, in Génova, they point out that "We want Pedro Sánchez to confirm his attendance at the two-way debate as soon as possible, as he did in 2023, and that, in passing, he lift the veto on the media group that organized it in 2023 so that he can prepare, on this occasion, the meeting between the candidates of the four main parties", in direct reference to Atresmedia.
At the same time, the PP has asked Mediaset and Atresmedia to hold a meeting "as soon as possible" in order to close the organizational and technical aspects of both events, reminding that for the first of them, the 'face-off' on the 16th, "there are a little more than ten days left."
On the other hand, the PSOE already communicated last October 23 that Sánchez accepted a 'face-off' with Feijóo on a private network, although it proposed that the debate with the other contenders be held on RTVE. Then, sources from Ferraz stressed that they were not going to "consent" to the veto on public television that, in their view, the PP is carrying out.
