The general secretary of the PP, Miguel Tellado, has demanded this Thursday the immediate resignation of the Minister of Science and leader of the Valencian socialists, Diana Morant, after she compared a potential government led by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to the "criminal" Hitler. In his view, those words describe a political leader and a PSOE that are going through "a desperate situation".
"She deserves nothing more than an immediate resignation," he stated in an interview on the program 'La mirada crítica' of 'Telecinco', reported by Europa Press, in which he emphasized that Morant's statements are not only offensive to the PP but also to the rest of the opposition parties and the "millions of voters" who support them.
"Comparing the political situation in Spain to Nazism can only occur to a person, to a politician who finds themselves in a situation as desperate as that of Mrs. Morant at the national and regional level," said the 'number two' of the 'populars', reiterating afterwards that the PSOE candidate for the Valencian Generalitat "is not qualified to continue sitting at the table of the Council of Ministers".
Criticism from Tellado to Sánchez and the Government
In this context, Tellado referred to the institutional regeneration plan announced by Feijóo in his assessment of the political course. He maintained that President Pedro Sánchez "has broken the institutional seams of our country" and "is a threat to the very democracy of Spain" due to his attacks on judges, prosecutors, and State Security Forces and Corps.
After the statement before the judge of the National Court by businessman Julio Martínez, who pointed to former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in the rescue of Plus Ultra, the general secretary of the PP has described the situation of the Executive as "extremely serious," as it is now the former "frontman" of the former socialist leader who points to the "traffic of influences" that, he said, reaches "all those who sit in the Council of Ministers".
"The question is, who was Zapatero exercising that influence over? Over Bolaños? Over María Jesús Montero? Over Ábalos? Or directly over Pedro Sánchez?", questioned Tellado, who admitted that there are no "lack of reasons" or "desire" for the PP to present a motion of censure. "We lack votes," he added, increasing the pressure on the government's parliamentary partners to support Sánchez in La Moncloa and maintain, as he has denounced, a strategy of "silence" in the face of corruption cases.
