Asaja Córdoba has reiterated this Friday the "importance of hunting in a responsible and orderly manner, in order to ensure the maintenance of populations of game species, complying with current regulations and respecting the established quotas," coinciding with the start of the general hunting season for rabbits this Sunday, a day from which this species can be hunted until November 29. Likewise, it reminds that the half-season will take place between August 22 and September 27 for quail, various pigeons, corvids, and the turtle dove, in the latter case with more restrictive conditions.
According to the agricultural organization, the limits set for hunters on these dates and species establish that ten quails can be hunted per hunter per day, 15 wood pigeons per hunter per day during the half-season, and 50 once the general period begins, three rabbits during the valid period in November, four red partridges with a call per hunter per day, or 25 thrushes per hunter per day.
Regarding the hunting grounds in the province authorized for hunting practice, those that completed the required procedures in spring are part of a list of enclosed areas with assigned quotas, published in the Official Bulletin of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA). These hunting grounds are required to use the digital seal.
This system implies that, through a mobile application, hunters must register their catches in real time from the hunting ground itself, without exceeding the approved quotas in any case. At the same time, the holders of the hunting grounds, or the persons to whom they have delegated management, will have to keep a thorough control of the authorized hunters and the pace of captures, through a control panel enabled for this purpose.
Regarding the turtle dove in the province of Córdoba, its hunting will only be allowed during four specific days (August 22, 23, 29, and 30). Asaja emphasizes that this limitation has caused that, of the approximately 1,500 hunting grounds existing in the Córdoba territory, only 197 have a quota for this species, after undertaking specific habitat improvements for the turtle dove, completing various administrative procedures, and presenting technical reports, among other management tasks.
For the agricultural organization, the implementation of the digital seal "continues to generate great controversy and many complaints in the sector, as a large part of it understands that bureaucracy is being generated and hunting is being artificialized, which must be understood and practiced as what it is, a natural activity carried out outdoors and that is already sufficiently regulated."
Regarding the pigeons, it is recalled that the three authorized species are the wood pigeon, the stock dove, and the rock dove. Asaja emphasizes that it is "a hunting period of great interest for the sector, which will generate significant activity in rural areas, and which will be the prelude to the general hunting period, which will run from October 11 to January 3. In this general period, other species can be hunted, such as the red-legged partridge, the hare, and the rest of the small game species, excluding the common turtle dove."
Big game and hunting emergency of the wild boar
Regarding big game, including driven hunts, the season will take place between October 17 and February 14. However, the night waits for wild boar began much earlier, specifically on June 3, the date on which the current hunting emergency declaration for this species came into effect, which "has been declared, yet another year, due to the damage that wild boar usually causes," which is why "the entire province is considered in emergency" for its control.
Asaja Córdoba insists, to conclude, on the "importance of hunting responsibly and in an orderly manner, in order to ensure the maintenance of game species populations, complying with current regulations and respecting the quotas established for hunters on these days."
