The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has urged South Korea to strengthen its cooperation with Kiev with the aim of countering, as much as possible and especially through the supply of air defense systems, the attacks by North Korean military and missiles against Ukrainian forces.
In recent weeks, Zelensky has been warning that Russia is preparing for the imminent deployment of "between 30,000 and 50,000 North Koreans" to participate in one way or another in a "modern war," with the "experience that this entails."
"We are absolutely clear that North Korea will continue to accumulate its experience in modern warfare, receiving licenses from Russia and obtaining all kinds of military tools from them," Zelensky has pointed out in an interview broadcast by the Ukrainian agency Ukrinform.
Considering that there are already North Korean missiles deployed in Russian territory and aimed at Ukraine, the president has demanded from the Seoul government "closer cooperation" through the sending of air defense systems, "an area where we have a shortage."
Furthermore, the head of the Ukrainian state has suggested to South Korea to study the possibility of approving a constitutional moratorium that allows the supply of drones to Ukraine despite the limitations set out in the South Korean Constitution.
"They have a legal restriction under their Constitution, and that is how they have decided, but we would like to have this cooperation and we count on it. Our diplomats are in contact," he has emphasized.
