Bodegas Riojanas' shares rise by 5.1% in the midday session this Friday, after announcing losses of 8.6 million euros in 2025 following the review and restatement of the results for the second half of 2025, alongside the recent incorporation of Vintae into its capital.
Specifically, the shares of the historic winery, owner of brands such as Monte Real and Viña Albina, advance more than 5% past 12:10 PM, reaching 1.03 euros per share.
The new board of directors, led by Vintae's CEO, Richi Arambarri, agreed in the meeting on July 31 to reformulate the individual and consolidated annual accounts of Riojanas and its group, along with the individual and consolidated management reports, corresponding to the fiscal year closed on December 31, 2025.
This accounting review has revealed the "delicate situation" in which the company found itself, which ultimately led to the filing for pre-bankruptcy on February 24.
In 2025, Bodegas Riojanas recorded sales of 13.54 million euros, a decrease of 15.8% compared to 16.09 million in 2024, while the operating result quadrupled its 'red numbers', going from 1.66 million euros to losses of 6.7 million in 2025, which include all material adjustments included in the new financial statements.
Vintae, owner of brands such as Hacienda López de Haro, Viñedos El Pacto, Matsu, and Bardos, became the majority shareholder of Bodegas Riojanas a few weeks ago, in an operation aimed at relaunching this century-old Rioja winery, which will continue to be a listed company.
The renewed board is focused on providing maximum transparency to the accounts, meeting the commitments made with clients and creditors, and completing a complex takeover that requires updating all formal and tax obligations that the company must fulfill before regulators and supervisors.
In this context, Vintae has contributed 12 million euros aimed at canceling the financial debt and is now focused on recovering normal business operations, stabilizing relationships with clients and suppliers, and introducing management changes that ensure the future viability of this historic house.
The new president of Bodegas Riojanas, Richi Arambarri Pérez, has announced that they are considering the option of demanding all kinds of responsibilities from the former management, "with the sole objective of defending the interests of all shareholders, especially the minority ones."
The new partners, who already operate with wineries such as Hacienda López de Haro (Rioja), Bodega Matsu (Toro), or Bodega Bardos (Ribera del Duero), have set out to recover the essence that made Bodegas Riojanas one of the "great references of Rioja for its historic fine wines."
The new leadership wants to enhance the viticultural and commercial heritage of the firm, strengthen the weight of its brands in national and international markets, and adapt to the demands of an increasingly knowledgeable and demanding wine consumer.
In addition, the new board of directors, composed of Arambarri as president, Fernando Martínez Sampedro as CEO, and Isabel García Castellanos and Raúl Acha Salazar as non-executive directors, has taken on the commitment from the very beginning not to receive any compensation while the results of Riojanas remain negative and until the company achieves a situation of financial sustainability on its own.
