The 18th edition of the International Fair of the Fruit and Vegetable Sector, Fruit Attraction, will be held from October 6 to 8 and will have a larger exhibition area than in the last edition, with around 2,000 additional square meters compared to 2025, and a forecast of participation from 2,500 companies.

According to a statement from Ifema Madrid, the fair will occupy 162,000 square meters and will bring together more than 121,000 professionals from 150 countries. Spain will attend this meeting as the main reference of the fruit and vegetable market, with the presence of all autonomous communities. At the same time, the international dimension is reinforced with the entry of new exhibiting countries such as Armenia, Australia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Tunisia, and the British Virgin Islands.

In addition to the stand area, Fruit Attraction will again focus its proposal on innovation and knowledge transfer as fundamental axes. In this line, the call for the Innovation Hub Awards is already underway, awards that recognize the most "innovative and sustainable" solutions in the sector. Exhibiting and co-exhibiting companies will be able to register their projects, products, or services until September 2.

The period for registering for the new edition of the Best Stand Awards has also been opened. This initiative, sponsored by WAH, rewards creativity, innovation, and commitment to sustainability of the companies present at the fair. The deadline for submitting applications also ends on September 2 and is aimed at all companies attending the next edition with a free design stand.

On the other hand, the Chef Factory reaffirms itself as the "most dynamic culinary space of this fair," designed for companies in the Fresh Produce area to showcase the gastronomic potential of their references through 'showcookings'. The registration period to participate in these demonstrations will end on September 27.

The potato, protagonist of the 18th edition

In this 18th edition, the potato has been designated as the star product of the year, as it is considered a strategic sector due to its contribution to food security and the maintenance of a balanced diet.

In this context, on October 5, the I International Potato Symposium will take place. The day, organized by Fepex, aims to revitalize the sector in a scenario of reduced cultivated area and production in the European Union, in addition to highlighting the potato as a strategic crop and key food for food security. The meeting will also promote cooperation and knowledge exchange among the various stakeholders involved.

Likewise, Fruit Attraction will once again bet on the Organic Tour, a marked route within the venue that will offer greater visibility to companies that market products with organic certification.

The fair will once again consolidate itself as a platform for projection and international expansion thanks to the International Buyers Program which, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, ICEX, and Fepex, will facilitate the presence of 700 large buyers, retail purchasing managers, importers, and wholesalers from more than 50 countries.

Within this framework, the program of Invited Importing Countries stands out, which this year will feature China and the United Arab Emirates as protagonists.

Fruit Attraction will open its doors from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, while on the last day the closing will be at 4:00 PM. The complete program, which includes the avocado congress and the Biofruit Congress, can be consulted at https://www.ifema.es/fruit-attraction/horario-actividades.
