The Mieres fairgrounds will be the setting this weekend for a national auction in which 16 sires of the Asturiana de los Valles breed will be offered. Bids may be made both in person and "online" starting tomorrow at 11.00 a.m.
With regard to the starting prices, they have been set at 2,000 euros for 15 of the lots, while the last of the sires will start at 1,500 euros. The successful bidders must sign a mercantile purchase and sale contract, as well as an agreement through which they undertake to keep the sire on the livestock farm for a minimum period of two years.
Before participating in the auction, the bulls have been assessed according to the genetic-functional valuation criteria of the young bulls scheme of the Asociación Española de Criadores de Ganado Vacuno Selecto de la Raza Asturiana de los Valles (Aseava), in collaboration with the Servicio Regional de Investigación y Desarrollo Agroalimentario (Serida). In order to take part in the bidding, all specimens had to meet the technical requirements set and the relevant health checks.
The day, promoted by Aseava, has the support of the Government of the Principality of Asturias and the Mieres City Council.
