Mel Sa Font and Miel Buenaventura have won the main awards of the Honey Competition 2026, held as part of the Hurdes Apiculture and Tourism Fair (Apithur 2026), which takes place from November 6 to 8 in Caminomorisco (Cáceres).

According to the fair organizers, 25 entries took part in this edition: 14 in the category of flower or nectar honeys (light honeys) and 11 in that of forest honeys (dark honeys). The products come from different locations across Spain, which confirms "the projection of the competition beyond Extremadura".

All the honey entries had to belong to the 2026 harvest and undergo a prior physicochemical analysis in the laboratory designated by the organizers. Subsequently, an expert jury assessed them through a blind tasting, rating the color, aroma, flavor, and texture of each entry. The jury has highlighted the high level of quality of the honeys presented this year.

In the category of light honeys, Mel Sa Font, from Mallorca, has obtained first prize in this edition, followed by Miel Buenaventura. In the section of dark honeys, Miel Buenaventura has taken first place, while second prize has gone to Miel El Camino.

With these results, the XII edition of the International Fair of Apiculture and Tourism of Las Hurdes strengthens its honey competition as a reference event at the national level, bringing together producers from several autonomous communities and highlighting the high quality of the entries.
