The president of the Agricultural Council of Valencia (CAV), José Gosálbez, has toured the collection points set up so that farmers can easily manage the plastic waste generated by their activity and, at the same time, promote the care of l'Horta.
During the visit, he emphasized that "the farmer is here to produce, not to waste time among waste, paperwork, and bureaucracy." "Our obligation is to provide solutions, make their work easier, and respond to the real needs of the field," he claimed.
According to the municipality, in a statement, the contract for the provision of the service of collection, treatment, and recycling of agricultural plastic waste in the area of l'Horta of Valencia during the campaigns of 2026 and 2027 "guarantees the continuity of a service aimed at facilitating the proper management of this type of waste generated by agricultural activity."
With the aim of "bringing this service closer to farmers and facilitating waste management," the Municipal Agricultural Council has launched five collection points distributed across different areas of l'Horta: the ravine of Carraixet, in Carpesa, the road of Alquería el Grande, the road of Vinalesa, in Casas de Bárcena, the Camí Farinós, and the Camí del Pou d'Aparici in La Punta. A new point will soon be added in the Partida de Arriba, in Campanar.
In these facilities, materials such as thermal blankets, drip irrigation pipes, and canopies, commonly used in agricultural operations, are deposited. After collection, the waste is transported to the management center of Emtre in Picassent, where it undergoes the corresponding treatment.
Gosálbez has stressed that "with these collection points we bring the service closer to the field and provide a concrete response to a real need." "Less bureaucracy, more solutions, and more support for those who work our garden," he indicated.
Commitment to a clean garden and fewer obstacles
The head of the CAV has reiterated that "a clean garden requires means and management." "It is not enough to talk about the garden: we must be alongside those who work it every day and provide them with the tools they need," he stated, before emphasizing that the "commitment is clear: listen to the farmer, solve problems, and make their work easier." "The garden needs fewer obstacles and more practical solutions," he concluded.
