The Consellería de Medio Rural will increase by four million euros the allocation of the latest call for grants aimed at supporting investments in the transformation and marketing of agricultural products.
According to the department in a statement, it is expected that the order regulating this increase will be published this Wednesday in the Diario Oficial de Galicia (DOG). The modification will specifically affect the support line aimed at increasing the added value of agricultural productions, whose budget will rise from 11 to 15 million euros.
The call also incorporates, for the first time, a specific line to cover investments for environmental purposes, which was initially launched with a budget of 7.9 million euros.
The conselleira of Medio Rural, María José Gómez, announced this budgetary reinforcement this Tuesday during her visit to the company Celega, located in the municipality of O Saviñao in Lugo, which is among the beneficiaries of these aids.
Gómez emphasized that, through these support lines, the Xunta demonstrates, "with facts," its commitment to the agri-food industry of Galicia.
In this same vein, the conselleira recalled that the regional government has allocated 195 million euros since 2016 to promote more than 600 industrial modernization projects. She also added that most of the beneficiary entities belong to the dairy and meat sectors, which account for approximately half of the supported actions, as she highlighted.
Gómez valued that Celega, as a dairy company, is included in this list of beneficiaries and highlighted its cooperative structure. Thus, she defined it as "a clear reference in the sector," with a significant volume of milk purchases from Galician farmers, an area in which the conselleira insisted on the importance of responsibility and commitment from the industries.
In this regard, she highlighted that the company's facilities have certifications in food safety, environmental management, animal welfare, and zero waste.
