The president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, has underlined this Thursday the relevance of wine tourism as a "key" tool to promote a tourist model that is "of quality, respectful of the environment, and that brings real added value to the entire territory".
These statements were made during the official opening of the Father 1943 e Paisana winery-restaurant, a new project in which he was accompanied by the Minister of Rural Affairs, María José Gómez.
According to information provided by the Xunta in a statement, this proposal is led by siblings Asunción and Ernesto Rodríguez Zarraquiños in the parish of Vilamaior, in Verín, and becomes the thirtieth winery integrated into the Monterrei Designation of Origin.
Rueda highlighted the commitment of the promoters to revitalize the area through projects that combine "heritage tradition with technological avant-garde," and emphasized that initiatives of this type "represent the highest exponent of 'Galicia Calidade' globally."
Furthermore, the head of the Galician government recalled the figures of the DO Monterrei, which in last year's harvest reached its historical maximum with more than 8 million kilos of grapes harvested and an economic volume exceeding 25 million euros.
