The members of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat) held a minute of silence this Wednesday in memory of the Canarian deputy Cristina Calero, who died yesterday at the age of 35, and as a gesture of respect and condolences toward the victims of the railway accident recorded today in Toledo.

The tribute took place at the headquarters of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, which these days is hosting the XVII Ordinary Plenary Session of EuroLat, an event that brings together parliamentary representatives from Europe and Latin America with the aim of strengthening political dialogue and cooperation between both regions, as the regional chamber noted in a press release.

Before the minute of silence, the president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, and the co-president of EuroLat, Gabriel Mato, took the floor to deliver messages of remembrance and condolence, in which they expressed grief over the death of Cristina Calero and solidarity with the people affected by the railway disaster.

Through this gesture, the members of the Assembly wanted to make clear "their respect and support" for the relatives and close ones of the victims.
