The Commons have registered this Friday in the Parliament the formal request for the appearance of the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Sònia Hernàndez, before the Culture commission, with the aim of clarifying the "scandal over the violation of the labor rights of more than 200 interns," as they have reported in a statement.

The request comes after it became known this Thursday that the Labor Inspectorate has initiated an administrative file with the Culture department following an action "that affected 207 false interns and that they were receiving 1,250 euros per month through the grant." From the ministry, however, they defended that the grants investigated have an essentially training nature and that "they fully comply with the legal regime of practice grants."

Given this information, the Commons are calling for Hernández to give detailed explanations in Parliament and point out that, if it is confirmed that these interns were performing duties that are proper to civil servant or labor staff, we would be facing "a scandal with regard to the violation of labor rights."
