The state of health of Jesús de Miguel has worsened. The CD Tenerife reported at 4:56 this Tuesday that the medical situation of the forward has worsened neurologically, after the footballer was admitted urgently to the ICU of the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria following the serious collision suffered during the match against FC Andorra.
The club has announced that it will provide more information in the coming hours. The new statement modifies the report released on Monday afternoon, in which the entity indicated that the player was "stable, within the seriousness".
A cardiorespiratory arrest after the impact
The incident occurred in the final stretch of the match played at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. Jesús de Miguel was running toward a ball when he collided with the Andorra goalkeeper, Jesús Owono, who had come out of his area to cut off the play. The forward fell unconscious on the pitch and medical services had to intervene immediately.
The footballer suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and received cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. He regained his pulse and autonomous breathing before being transferred by ambulance to the hospital.
The seriousness of the emergency forced the referee to definitively stop the Tenerife-Andorra in the 108th minute, when the scoreboard showed a two-goal draw. Owono was sent off for the action that ended with the forward lying on the grass.
FC Andorra publicly conveyed its support to the player, his family, and CD Tenerife through a message published on its website.
