From Méjico, since this past Sunday, and after celebrating the institutional celebration of May 2nd at the Palacio de Correos, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has stressed that the GDP of the Comunidad de Madrid is once again above the Spanish average at  3.1%, so -she has substantiated-, "we are the economic engine of España"

Thus has spoken the Madrid president in a meeting with businessmen from the Chamber of Commerce of Spain in Mexico. From that location, the popular leader has also pointed out that, "as a region, we are experiencing one of the best moments in our history and those results are seen in all areas, for example, in the Economy. Today we are -she has stressed- the economic engine of Spain, when -she recalled-, in the 80s it was not like that, as we were fourth, but today however, we are the region that contributes the most to the Nation as a whole".

"Almost 20% of the national economy"

"We are talking - the president specified - about almost 20% of the national economy, and just today we learned that the Gross Domestic Product of the Community of Madrid is once again above the Spanish average, at 3.1%".

Recently, the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIRef) has placed the Comunidad de Madrid among the regions with the highest economic growth in Spain, growing 3.1% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, and exceeding the national average by four tenths.

This strength - CAM sources point out - is also reflected in the start of the year, as in this same period the increase has been 0.8%, at the head of all the Autonomous Communities in the country.
