The four people who continue to be detained –of the six arrested initially, two have already been released– within the framework of the joint operation by the Policía Nacional and the Guardia Civil for the alleged sale of minors, will be brought before the courts this Friday. The operation has included searches in Linares (Jaén), Montijo and Badajoz, as well as the location of six minors between 1 and 11 years old, children of the main person under investigation.
So confirmed the Government delegate in Extremadura, María Teresa Macías, when asked about this matter, referring to the information provided this Thursday by the Policía Nacional following the statements she herself made earlier in the day.
"Complementing the information that the Policía Nacional gave yesterday, what I can confirm is that during this morning the detainees will be brought before the courts," she said, stressing that there are four people who continue to be in custody in the holding cells and that they will be brought before the judge throughout the morning. The investigation remains open.
According to the data released by the Policía Nacional, two of the girls, aged one and three, are under the care of the Portuguese administrative authorities. The other two children are under the custody of the Junta de Extremadura, and the other two remain with relatives and people from their closest environment.
The so-called Operación Luna has, to date, resulted in the arrest of three men and three women, as alleged perpetrators of crimes related to trafficking in minors, membership in an organized criminal group, abandonment of minors, simulation of a crime, a crime against road safety, and unlawful possession of weapons. All of them have been located in the aforementioned towns and localities in the province of Jaén and the province of Badajoz.
The main suspect had already been arrested previously by the Guardia Civil of Badajoz for related events, which are before the courts in Montijo.
Earlier this Thursday morning, the delegate specified that, within this joint operation, six people had been detained, four of whom continued under police custody, including the woman who is allegedly the one who would have sold her own children, while the other two had been released.
