The judge of Catarroja (Valencia) who is instructing the case concerning the management of the dana has requested from the Emergency Coordination Centre (CCE) of the Generalitat, by means of a provision dated 4 November, that within a maximum period of five days it forward the recordings of the calls made to the municipalities located downstream of Forata on 29 October 2024, around 17:18, in which it would have been reported the “imminent” discharge of up to 1,000 cubic metres per second from Forata to the Magro River.
In the same way, the magistrate requires that the recordings of the telephone communications made to those same municipalities around 18:34, relating to the convening of a telematic coordination meeting between the authorities involved, be provided.
The judge’s request is based on the notes that appear in the documentation sent to the court by the Agencia Valenciana de Seguridad y Respuesta a las Emergencias (AVSRE), where these points about the communications made to the affected municipalities are detailed “via voice and telephonically”.
In the same resolution, the investigating judge agrees to obtain the necessary consent in order to be able to transfer to the proceedings the recording or, where applicable, the transcription of several calls made by individuals from Chiva, Godelleta and Turís on the day of the dana, following an official letter received from the AVSRE about different incidents managed through 112.
With regard to Chiva, the call is included from a woman who was at the intersection between Río Miño and Tajo streets, trapped in her vehicle with the children and with water entering the car—several are recorded--; also the report from an individual about a “overflowing river” on the road from Godelleta, CV-424, toward Turís, which had flooded the access to an urbanization (at 13:35); or, in Turís, the communication from a citizen who warned that he was on a road in Turís, whose car had been “wrecked” in front of him after a wall had fallen on it, that everything had filled with water and he could not leave either with the car or on foot. In the latter case, in the calls spreadsheet sent by the AVSRE, the incident is recorded at 12:11.
Likewise, the judge takes the same measure, following the report of the AVSRE, regarding other calls to 112 in which officials who are currently no longer in service intervened, related to incidents originating from the towns of Chiva, Picanya, Alfafar, Sedaví, Albal, Torrent and Godella.
These notices refer, among other things, to solar panels that come loose from a home in the Santa Ana de Albal or Picanya development; to the fall of tree branches on the CV-401, in Alfafar; to incidents caused by the fall of antennas or billboards in Sedaví; or to the fall of a palm tree in the municipal district of Torrent.
