With you Navarra-Zurekin Nafarroa emphasized this Tuesday "the contradictory nature of praising the memorialist movement" at the inauguration event of Rozalejo as a new space for memory and coexistence "and at the same time ignoring it in the planning process for the future of the Monument to the Fallen".
In a press release, the parliamentary spokesperson for the coalition, Carlos Guzmán, highlighted the "potential" of this new infrastructure, which, in his view, "institutionally repositions the public memory policies of Navarra in a strategic place".
He recalled that "for three legislative terms, our community has been at the forefront of public memory policies, and it must continue to be so in a context of dark rise of reactionary movements like the one we are immersed in. Against hatred and oblivion, memory must be a foundation on which to build the coexistence of the present and the future".
Guzmán also emphasized that "once again, we must make an explicit recognition to those who for decades have recovered and dignified our memory in a militant way, the memorialist associations and movements".

As he pointed out, "on the eve of the inauguration, the memorialist movement of Navarra has mobilized again today demanding the demolition of the greatest symbol of fascist exaltation in Navarra, but it seems that a good part of the authorities present have turned a deaf ear again".
He lamented that "the interventions of the president, the second vice president, and the government delegate have completely overlooked what is today the main demand of the memorialist associations of Navarra. Despite the pomp and institutional fanfare, today is a bittersweet day for memory. Today a fantastic and bright infrastructure is inaugurated, which will be overshadowed by the permanence over time of the greatest symbol of fascist exaltation in Navarra".
