The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has held a conversation with the head of the Executive of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, after the serious railway accident recorded this Wednesday morning in the province of Toledo, on the Madrid-Seville line, in which "many Andalusians" were traveling. As a result of the accident, Moreno has decided to suspend all his public activities "at least" until this Thursday, October 29.
The Andalusian president himself announced this decision through a message on his profile on the social network X, where he also emphasized that "Andalucía makes available the emergency resources that are necessary to help in this tragedy".
In that same publication, Moreno insisted that "Many Andalusians were traveling on those trains", and confirmed that he is putting his institutional agenda on hold "at least for today (this Wednesday) and tomorrow", referring to this Thursday.
Before announcing the suspension of his events, the Andalusian leader had already expressed that he was "very worried about the new railway accident on the line between Madrid and Andalucía" that happened this Wednesday, which he referred to as "another nightmare" after the accident between two trains that occurred in Adamuz (Córdoba) last January, in which 46 people died.
That message was also spread by him on X, in relation to the collision that occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. between the towns of Mora and Urda (Toledo), in which a high-speed train covering the Madrid-Seville route and the Iryo 6076 train, which was traveling ahead, were involved.
Moreno's schedule planned for this Wednesday included his attendance at an event on the occasion of Business Day, organized at the headquarters of the Confederación de Empresarios de Andalucía (CEA), in Seville. Subsequently, he was to lead a meeting of the Governing Council in which it was planned to approve the draft bill of the Budget Law of the Autonomous Community of Andalucía for fiscal year 2027, the first of the coalition government of PP-A and Vox arising after the regional elections of May 17.
Likewise, the Andalusian president had set for this Thursday, October 29, his appearance in the usual control session to the Government in the Plenary of the Parliament, which was due to begin this Wednesday, October 28. The holding of said Plenary could be suspended depending on what the Mesa and the Board of Spokespersons determine, convened this same morning.
According to the latest official information available, the accident has occurred when an AVE train that had departed from Madrid bound for Sevilla collided with train Iryo 6076, which was traveling ahead, causing the derailment of the last two cars of the Iryo convoy.
