The Parliament of Andalucía has decided to suspend all the activity scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday, October 28 and 29, on which the holding of a Plenary was set. At the same time, the institution has called for a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the railway accident between the AVE 2080 train and the Iryo 6076 train registered this Wednesday in the Toledan town of Urda, an accident in which at least 30 people are estimated to have died.

The Board of Spokespersons of the Andalusian Parliament has agreed by assent, and at the initiative of the president of the Chamber, Ana Mestre, the suspension of the parliamentary agenda scheduled for both days.

During the extraordinary meeting of the Board of Spokespersons, held this same Wednesday morning as a result of the accident, the president of the Parliament lamented that there may be "many, unfortunately, Andalusians who are injured and are victims of this accident", as it is a crash that affects two trains on the Madrid-Seville line.

In that same meeting, Ana Mestre wanted to convey from the institution her "condolences to families and friends" of the victims of the accident, emphasizing that from the Andalusian Chamber they join "the pain that Andalucía is already living."

The president has indicated that the Andalusian Parliament "had to behave at its height and suspend its activity" on these two days. With the backing of the spokespersons of the different groups, she has chosen to cancel the Plenary and the rest of the parliamentary acts scheduled, as well as to call a minute of silence at 12:00 hours this Wednesday in front of the main facade of the building.

As is usual on Wednesdays, the political groups had scheduled appearances before the media at the parliamentary headquarters. Only the first has come to be held, offered by the deputy of Por Andalucía Ernesto Alba, who began just as the first news about the railway accident were being disseminated.

Later, as new data about the magnitude of the accident became known, the groups of Adelante Andalucía, the PSOE-A and the PP-A have opted to cancel the press conferences they had planned throughout the morning in the Andalusian Chamber.

For its part, the Government of Castilla-La Mancha has indicated that at least 30 deaths are being counted as a result of the collision between the AVE 2080 train and the Iryo 6076 train that occurred this Wednesday in the municipal district of Urda, according to sources from the Castilian-Manchego Executive.
