The Executive of Isabel Díaz Ayuso has registered this Tuesday in the Assembly of Madrid a request for the Minister of Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, to attend the Plenary of the Chamber of Vallecas at "his own request" to address the purchase of the attic in Chamberí by the Community of Madrid.
According to parliamentary sources who have advanced to Europa Press, the appearance will focus on providing details about the asset management of Planifica Madrid, the public entity attached to the Ministry of Presidency that formalized the acquisition of the property, as previously published by the newspaper 'El País'.
From the regional Government, they have confirmed to Europa Press the request "at his own request" and emphasize that the minister, who has already offered "all the explanations" about the operation, will do so again in parliamentary headquarters as soon as the Assembly's Board sets the date and gives the green light to the appearance.
In the environment of Puerta del Sol, they recall that "The Government of the Community of Madrid is the one that submits to parliamentary control the most times and accounts before the regional Chamber, informing about its management and responding to the opposition groups both orally and in written questions."
The Community of Madrid, through Planifica Madrid, has put this attic up for sale with a starting price of 6.7 million euros. The operation is part of a package that includes four other properties located on Gran Vía, which have been put on the market for an additional 11.8 million euros, with the aim of obtaining resources to address the damages caused by the fires in July in the Sierra Oeste.
The decision to sell the attic was communicated just a few days after the news of its purchase emerged. At that time, the Community argued that the acquisition responded to the planned works in the Royal Post House, for which the regional president required a "temporary" office.
The operation of the attic in Chamberí has sparked intense rejection from left-wing parties, who have taken the case to the courts and have demanded the resignation of the president, whom they accuse of intending with this purchase a "official residence." Ayuso has rejected these accusations and maintains that it would be "unwise" for them to look for a house that she could not "hide."
García Martín, who also serves as spokesperson for the regional Executive, has insisted on several occasions that he has already offered the pertinent clarifications regarding a property acquired to put it "at the service of the needs that the different ministries may have and as support for the institutional headquarters of the Community."
In statements to the media this Tuesday from Patones, the councilor accused the left of "trying to cover up" what is happening in Spain, "which is nothing other than chaos and corruption" attributed to the management of the central Government, using as an argument the controversy surrounding the purchase of this penthouse.
In an interview with Europa Press, the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, recently stated that it is the Heritage of the Community of Madrid that must clarify "why it bought a place that cannot be used as an office."
For her part, the Madrid president reiterated this Monday that the issue is sufficiently clarified. "It is for sale. Bye, fish," concluded Ayuso.
Meanwhile, the Investigating Court number 8 of Madrid has open proceedings on five complaints related to the purchase of the penthouse: one filed by the anti-corruption party Iustitia Europa, another by the PSOE-M, and three more filed by individuals.
