Thus sang Shakira and Dua Lipa "Antología" in Madrid for the first time

The British woman appeared unexpectedly during the eighth concert of Shakira's Madrid residency and both performed together one of the great classics of "Pies descalzos". It was the first time they shared the stage, although Dua Lipa had already sung "Antología" solo during her concert in Bogotá in 2025.

Shakira had prepared one of the biggest surprises of her residency in Madrid. After 10:30 PM on Saturday, October 3, the Colombian interrupted the usual development of her eighth concert in the capital to present a guest who had not been announced: Dua Lipa. The British singer appeared on the stage of Macondo Park, in the Iberdrola Music venue, and the two pop stars joined their voices to perform "Antología," one of the most recognizable songs from the early stage of Shakira's career. It was, moreover, the first joint performance of both artists, both live and in a musical collaboration.

"For me, it is an honor and a luxury to sing this song that means so much to me with this woman so admired and so loved all over the world," announced Shakira before receiving her. The Colombian added that she declared herself "officially her fan" and then pronounced the name of Dua Lipa before an audience that reacted immediately to the surprise appearance. From there, the show momentarily reduced its scale to give way to a more acoustic and intimate version of "Antología", with the two singers facing each other and alternating their voices during the performance.

From Bogotá to Madrid: the story behind "Antología"

The choice of the song had a prior story. On November 28, 2025, during a concert of her "Radical Optimism Tour" at the El Campín stadium in Bogotá, Dua Lipa surprised her Colombian followers by performing "Antología" in Spanish as a tribute to Shakira. That performance went viral and provoked a public exchange of messages between both artists, with the Colombian celebrating the British singer's version.

Dua Lipa had during that tour a dynamic of performing a song related to the country she was visiting, and in Colombia, she chose precisely one of the most personal themes from Shakira's catalog. The performance drew particular attention for its pronunciation in Spanish and for choosing a song far removed from the more recent and danceable hits of the Barranquilla singer. Months later, Shakira publicly expressed her admiration for the British singer and her desire to collaborate with her.

What happened in Madrid thus closed the circle: Dua Lipa had sung "Antología" without Shakira in Bogotá and now could perform it for the first time alongside its author. EFE also points out that the organization had managed two possible songs for the meeting, although it was finally decided to recover the theme of "Pies descalzos".

One of the songs that turned Shakira into an international star

"Antología" belongs to "Pies descalzos," the album released by Shakira in 1995 and decisive for her consolidation in Latin America before her subsequent leap to the international market. Unlike much of the artist's more recent repertoire, it is a ballad built around the voice and the guitar, which allowed Dua Lipa's appearance to develop in a much more contained register than other moments of the Madrid residency.

The British singer sang in Spanish and both took turns sharing the parts of the song while the audience accompanied the performance. The scene quickly became one of the most shared fragments of the night on social media, partly because until now the careers of Shakira and Dua Lipa had never formally crossed in a song or on a stage, despite the messages of admiration they had dedicated to each other.

The eighth concert of the twelve planned in Madrid

The duet took place during the eighth of the twelve performances scheduled by Shakira in Madrid to close the European stage of "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour." The residency began on September 18 and will continue until October 11, with four concerts still pending after Saturday's performance: October 4, 9, 10, and 11.

The date of October 3 was also special because it became the first complete concert of this residency broadcast live for an international audience, through Amazon Music, Prime Video, Fire TV, and Twitch. The venue set up in Villaverde has a capacity for around 55,000 spectators and is part of Macondo Park, a space created around the concerts with different activities related to the universe of the Colombian artist.

Dua Lipa thus joins the list of guests who have passed through the Madrid stage. During the previous dates, Shakira had shared the performance with Alejandro Sanz, Laura Pausini, and Manuel Turizo, turning each weekend of the residency into an opportunity to introduce different collaborations within a repertoire that spans more than three decades of career.

The surprise that was not Maluma

In the hours leading up to the concert, part of the speculation pointed to Maluma as a possible guest, especially after both artists had recently collaborated again. The organization, however, kept Dua Lipa's appearance a secret until the moment Shakira pronounced her name on stage.

The surprise also ended up having a symbolic component that is difficult to reproduce with another song. "Antología" connects Shakira from the mid-nineties with one of the biggest stars of current international pop and recovers the tribute that Dua Lipa had made less than a year earlier in Colombia. Madrid was the place where that solo version finally became a duet.

After performing the song, Dua Lipa said goodbye to the audience and Shakira continued with the concert. It was only a few minutes within a show of more than two hours, but it left an unprecedented image: Shakira and Dua Lipa singing together for the first time and choosing to do so not one of their recent hits, but "Antología," a song released more than three decades ago and that remains one of the most recognized by the followers of the Colombian.
