Acciona Energía has registered a strong rebound on the stock market this Friday, with an increase of 13.07%, after it became known that the funds KKR and Brookfield would be studying the presentation of offers for a possible acquisition of Acciona's renewable energy subsidiary.
At the close of the session, Acciona Energía's shares concluded the week at 24.22 euros, while the shares of the parent company Acciona advanced by 10.37%, to 259 euros, becoming the best performing stocks on the Ibex on a day when the Madrid selective index reached historic highs.
During the afternoon, around 5:19 PM, Acciona Energía's shares even touched 24.32 euros, very close to the closing price. With this performance, the company's market capitalization reaches 7,866 million euros, which implies an increase of 910 million compared to last Thursday's level.
XTB analyst Javier Cabrera emphasizes that Acciona controls approximately 91% of Acciona Energía and that it had already been evaluating different corporate alternatives for this subsidiary. "In fact, one of the possibilities was that the company would buy the remaining 9% that it did not yet own of Acciona Energía," he points out.
Another element that would be supporting the stock market surge is the decision communicated this Thursday by the Technical Advisory Committee (CAT) to maintain the composition of the Ibex 35 without variations, after part of the market anticipated a possible exit of Acciona Energía to make way for Técnicas Reunidas.
"The problem is that Acciona Energía has very little free float (most of the shares are owned by Acciona) and even Técnicas Reunidas was having more volume than Acciona Energía," he indicated.
The potential interest of KKR and Brookfield is part of the strategic review process that the company is developing, as reported this Friday by the economic newspaper 'Cinco Días'.
According to this information, KKR and Brookfield would be among the investors that the Entrecanales family, which controls Acciona, would have sounded out to study a possible operation on Acciona Energía, either through the total sale of the subsidiary or only a part of it. In any case, the scenario that no transaction will ultimately materialize is also contemplated.
Acciona sources consulted by Europa Press have opted not to comment on this information.
