Bizum will begin to enable payment in physical stores starting this Monday, but it will do so progressively and conditioned on the financial institutions of which both users and establishments are clients.
This staggered rollout means that not all consumers or all businesses will be able to use in-person payment with Bizum at the same time or from the first day, as activation will depend on the decisions and schedules of each bank.
The new in-person payment system with Bizum will be offered through two channels: the mobile applications of certain entities and the Bizum Pay wallet. The entities themselves will determine through which channel they will facilitate the use of Bizum for in-person payments to their clients, being able to opt for one of them or both simultaneously.
The functionality will begin to reach "small groups of users" starting today, in a first limited launch phase. The objective is to extend it to the general public later, although a specific date for this total opening has not yet been set.
